1 Million Bitcoin in Sight: Strategy Launches New Multi-Billion Dollar Offering
Strategy wants to grow into a Bitcoin superpower. With new preferred shares and billions in capital, the company is aiming for one million BTC. It is also getting support from well-known names in the financial world.
Strategy is going all in on its Bitcoin strategy. According to Bloomberg, which cites people familiar with the matter, the company plans to scale up its recent share offering from 500 million to 2.8 billion US dollars.
At the center is the new preferred share STRC, or "Stretch," which will be sold to selected investors for 90 dollars each.
Founder Michael Saylor has not yet commented publicly on the capital raise. What is clear, though, is that Strategy is sticking with its ambitious goal of accumulating one million Bitcoin. Right now, the company holds more than 607,000 BTC. That is more than any other publicly traded company.
The expansion is drawing attention. According to sources, investment banks like Morgan Stanley, Barclays, and TD Securities are interested in the new shares.
With the preferred shares, including STRC, STRF, STRD, and STR, Strategy offers a less risky option compared with the volatile common stock MSTR. That comes with attractive dividends.
The net proceeds will be used for general corporate purposes, including buying Bitcoin. That is stated in the official announcement about the STRC share.
That keeps Strategy a major player in the corporate Bitcoin treasury market. It is also serving as a model for a growing number of publicly traded companies around the world that are increasingly viewing Bitcoin as a strategic asset.
