The Bitcoin halving is getting closer. BTC supply will be cut again in 10,000 blocks.
According to Nicehash , there are just under 10,000 blocks left until the halving. Based on this estimate, the halving will happen in about two months, on April 14.
During the halving, the amount of Bitcoin paid out per block is cut in half, from the current 6.5 to 3.125 bitcoin in the future. The halving takes place every 210,000 blocks, so roughly every four years.
Market watchers expect positive effects on Bitcoin's price over the long term. By reducing supply, it creates a supply shortage, which could push prices higher if demand stays strong.
For miners, though, a halving means lower revenue. Some analysts estimate that only five miners will still be profitable after the halving.
