Abstract Shuts Down, Pudgy Penguins Floor Rises, and PENGU Falls

Key Takeaways

  • Abstract, Igloo Inc.'s blockchain for consumer crypto apps, shuts down on December 15, 2026, and users must move their assets before that date.
  • The announcement drew more attention to Pudgy Penguins; the NFT floor rose from about 3.07 ETH to 3.37 ETH, and trading volume jumped sharply.
  • PENGU fell 4.17% in 24 hours to $0.00917 and is still trading about 87% below its all-time high.

Abstract, the blockchain from Igloo Inc. for consumer crypto apps, shuts down on December 15, 2026. The announcement not only puts the network's future under pressure, but also draws renewed attention to Pudgy Penguins. The collection's NFT floor rose, while the PENGU token fell.

Abstract Goes Offline

According to the team, everyone needs to move their assets off the chain before December 15. After that, access will be lost. Abstract ran for almost three years, but it never managed to build lasting growth.

The project says that was due to a limited DeFi ecosystem, thin liquidity, little institutional flow, and a small budget. CEO Luca Netz said that Igloo had already been funding it for the past 18 months, but that after two years and losses of tens of millions of dollars, the company had not found product-market fit.

Netz also said Igloo had considered launching a token or ICO for Abstract, but decided against it. Instead, attention is now shifting fully to Pudgy Penguins, the NFT collection, and PENGU.

NFT Trading Picks Up

That shift was immediately visible in the market for the collection. The Pudgy Penguins floor price rose according to X user StarPlatinum from about 3.07 ETH to 3.37 ETH. The collection logged 69 sales and 237 ETH in volume, about 10 times a normal day.

The move fits into a broader wave of shutdowns in 2026. RootData counted at the end of August already 347 crypto projects that had stopped, gone bankrupt, or been offline for a long time. Since then, more examples have been added, including Harmony and Blast, which set a withdrawal deadline for October 26.

What This Means for PENGU

For European crypto followers, the key point is that a brand like Pudgy Penguins is leaning more and more on the combination of NFTs and token value. When a separate network disappears, attention shifts faster to the remaining parts of the ecosystem.

PENGU, meanwhile, moved the other way. According to BeInCrypto Markets, the token was at $0.00917 (€0.0081), down 4.17% in 24 hours. That still leaves PENGU trading about 87% below its all-time high of $0.06845 (€0.061), reached on December 17, 2024.
