Meta (formerly Facebook) wants to boost its internal Metaverse development with the help of artificial intelligence. That explains Meta CTO Andrew Bosworth.

Specifically, he says: "We have been investing in artificial intelligence for more than ten years and run one of the world’s leading research institutes." In February, Meta set up a new team for generative AI technology. Mark Zuckerberg has a strong focus on this area, according to Bosworth.

The generative AI should also help execute the company’s Metaverse plans, letting users create their own worlds. So far, Meta’s virtual world has had little success. Internet users have gradually lost interest in the Metaverse over the past year, according to Google Trends. The release of ChatGPT, by contrast, sparked a real AI hype.
