Amazon.eth: A million-dollar miss on a crypto domain

You probably know the classic internet domains .nl and .com, but today you can also buy and trade Web 3.0 domain names. With the help of the Ethereum Name Service, simply ENS, an anonymous user has put the domain Amazon.eth up for sale on Opensea.

During the auction of the .eth domain, the bid reached one million US dollars in the form of Circle's USDC stablecoins. But instead of accepting the impressive amount, the seller let the bid lapse.

Of course, this raises the question of whether anyone was actually willing to pay a million US dollars for Amazon.eth. After all, it could have been a fake bid.

Still, such sums aren't crazy. The last time the domain was sold, it fetched $100,000. This shows that ENS domain trading is drawing more and more speculators. Since 2017 there have been more than 1.6 million ENS addresses registered, which are held by nearly half a million owners.
