Bitcoin is now worth more than Visa

The "flippening" of Visa is thanks to Bitcoin's strong performance since the start of the year. The cryptocurrency has now climbed back into the top 11.

Bitcoin is worth more than Visa. That comes from a snapshot of the ranking of the most valuable asset classes. With a market cap of $472 billion, the cryptocurrency is creeping into the top 10. The next hurdle is graphics-card maker Nvidia (market cap: $533 billion).

The main reason for the flippening is the crypto's solid performance since the start of the year. Bitcoin has risen about 48% in total. Current price: $24,455.

The Bitcoin-Visa flippening is nothing new: it’s the third time the cryptocurrency has overtaken the credit-card provider. It first overtook the payments processor in December 2020.

In fact, Visa has long been interested in the crypto world. According to rumors, the payments giant is working on its own wallet for Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
