Bitcoin repayments from Mt. Gox delayed by a year

The curator of the bankrupt Mt. Gox crypto exchange has announced that payments to affected users will be delayed by one year. This is stated in an official announcement.
To qualify for a payout, claimants must provide certain information. “Many creditors have not yet received their repayments because they haven’t completed the required steps,” it says.
To pay as many creditors as possible, Mt. Gox's curator has decided to extend the process. The new deadline is now October 31, 2025. The payout process had already started in July, when about $9 billion in Bitcoin was moved. According to Arkham Intelligence, an analytics firm, there is currently a little over $2.8 billion worth of Bitcoin left in Mt. Gox wallets.
There was some market uncertainty surrounding the payouts, as investors feared that the sale of these Bitcoins by the claimants would push the price lower.
Mt. Gox is seen as the first major crash of a crypto exchange. In 2014, Mark Karpeles' exchange collapsed, causing billions in losses. This chapter in crypto history now appears to be coming to an end.
