Bitcoin transaction fees at their lowest since 2011
Transactions via the Bitcoin blockchain hadn’t been this cheap in a long time.

Transactions via the Bitcoin blockchain had not been this cheap in a long time. According to crypto analyst Wu Blockchain, the daily transaction costs in the network have fallen back to the lowest level since late 2011, at least when measured in Bitcoin.
Data from the on-chain analytics platform Glassnode shows that the fees are currently around 3.5 BTC per day. By comparison: during the big crypto boom of December 2017, this figure peaked at 845 BTC.
Due to Bitcoin’s sharp price rise in recent years, that comparison is somewhat distorted. Still, the costs, even when converted to U.S. dollars, are relatively low. With a current level of about $410,000 per day, the fees historically sit at a modest level.
An important explanation for this drop is the decrease in the number of on-chain transactions in 2025. Additionally, the growing adoption of scaling solutions like the Lightning Network plays a crucial role. With the increase of Layer-2 technologies, it seems likely that transaction costs will remain at this low level in the future.
