Blogger Andy Baio revealed on April 5 that the Bitcoin whitepaper would be hidden in "every modern copy of macOS". Specifically, he notes: "The file is found in every version of macOS from Mojave (10.14.0) to the current Ventura (13.3), but not in High Sierra (10.13) or an earlier [version]."

Baio found the document by chance: "When I was trying to repair my printer today, I discovered a PDF copy of Satoshi Nakamoto's Bitcoin white paper." You can use this file path to check whether the document is on your own computer: "open /System/Library/Image Capture/Devices/VirtualScanner.app/Contents/Resources/simpledoc.pdf".

Why Apple allegedly hid the Bitcoin whitepaper inside Apple software is unclear. Baio suspects that a "secret Bitcoin maxi works at Apple". The tech company has not yet commented on the discovery.
