Charles Hoskinson, founder of the blockchain platform Cardano (ADA), sees Bitcoin in this bull market rise to a price of $250,000. In an interview with Kitco, he called this the potential ceiling for the current cycle.

Big players stepping in

Hoskinson notes that more and more big players are loading up on Bitcoin. Several sovereign funds have already built positions, and the U.S. government reportedly holds over 212,000 Bitcoin. "That’s actually pretty wild when you think about it," Hoskinson said.

In the long term, he expects Bitcoin’s total market cap to grow to $10 trillion. That would put the digital currency on par with the global gold market.

DeFi as a growth engine

According to Hoskinson, the main driver behind that development is Bitcoin-based DeFi (decentralized finance applications). This tech lets you create loans, investments, and other financial products without banks in the middle.

That vision aligns with earlier forecasts from investor Tim Draper, who compared Bitcoin to tech giants like Microsoft because it can bring together multiple innovations in one ecosystem.

Regulation as a catalyst

Hoskinson emphasizes that clear regulation in the United States plays a crucial role. Once Bitcoin can be legally treated as a normal investment product (including taxes), he expects a big influx of institutional capital.

Impact on the entire crypto market

If Bitcoin actually climbs to $10 trillion, the rest of the crypto market will automatically benefit, according to Hoskinson. He likens it to a flood that lifts all boats.

The Cardano founder’s view goes beyond the financial sector. He sees opportunities for blockchain applications outside crypto, like social networks running on decentralized networks instead of central platforms like Facebook. Eventually, he envisions an "internet of blockchains" where different networks work together seamlessly.
