Cardano testnet 'catastrophically broken' says developer

The current Cardano testnet had a critical bug. But the upcoming Vasil upgrade isn’t in danger.

A prominent Cardano developer is drawing attention to a serious bug on the current testnet. On Twitter, he writes about aView post on X. Testnets simulate a blockchain before it goes live. They also help spot potential bugs.

With that in mind, the developer later noted in the View post on X that they "got lucky" this happened only on the testnet. When asked by a user what this means for the upcoming upgrade, the developer replied: "It just means we’re testing our new testnets even harder. And that’s okay. Much better than rushing a new mainnet and finding a bug. We’re doing our homework."

Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson said a few days ago he was pleased with how the tests went. Cardano is currently gearing up for one of its big upgrades, Vasil. It’s expected to massively boost network speeds. Read all about it here.
