Crypto at record high: total market breaks through $4.14 trillion

The global crypto market has reached a new milestone today: a total market capitalization of $4.14 trillion. That means a 22% gain since the start of 2025, equating to roughly $750 billion in fresh capital that has flowed into the market this year.

What stands out is that this recent capital influx is nearly equal to the entire market cap at the bear market low in November 2022. Ethereum led the charge, trading around $4,800 for its highest price since December 2021, marking a roughly 46% jump over the past month.

The rally is driven mainly by institutional demand. Inflows into ETPs and ETFs, along with solid buy activity from corporate treasuries, provide strong price support, especially for Ethereum. In just four months, companies accumulated more than 3 million ETH, worth about $13 billion. That pushed ETH’s market cap briefly to $522 billion, higher than giants like Mastercard and Netflix.

Aside from the capital inflows, favorable macro factors also play a role: expectations for lower rates in the U.S., regulatory progress in key markets, and tech trends like the growing tokenization of Real-World Assets.

Yet there’s still room to run for crypto: at $4.14 trillion, it’s still a bit smaller than chipmaker Nvidia, which is currently valued at $4.45 trillion.
