Donald Trump unveils his plan for Bitcoin reserves
The U.S. crypto agenda is taking clearer shape.

The U.S. government's crypto agenda is taking clearer shape. The White House has presented a new report on the creation of a Bitcoin reserve, while companies keep lining up.
As far back as March, Donald Trump announced the creation of a Bitcoin reserve by executive order. Now the White House has followed up with a report from the Presidents Working Group on Digital Asset Markets.
In the 168-page document released on Wednesday, clear market rules are laid out and responsibilities for future crypto regulation are assigned to government agencies. It is a blueprint for delivering many of the election pledges Trump has made to the crypto sector, notably the creation of a Bitcoin reserve.
The report now confirms these plans, though there has been little substantive change. As has been known for months, the U.S. Bitcoin reserve will consist of a base stock of coins seized over the years. A minimal approach, but one that is now spelled out in black and white.
The concept of a crypto reserve is taking shape not only at the government level. More and more companies are hopping on board, announcing billions in investments in cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, or BNB.
Just this week, sixteen companies disclosed investments in crypto totaling more than $7.8 billion, a new record.
After Bitcoin spent a long time in the spotlight, more treasury firms have started to hold alternative coins on their balance sheets. The price of the second-largest crypto asset has especially benefited. More on that here: Ethereum on the rise, how ETFs and companies drive the ETH rally.
With an eye on stock performance, however, this strategy hasn’t led to immediate success. All 43 companies that added Bitcoin to their reserves in the last seven months and are still publicly traded report a negative price move versus the early-year peaks.
