Donald Trump's new crypto project launches Monday

This coming Monday it's going down: Trump's crypto app, World Liberty Financial, will launch. The former U.S. president announced it in a View post on X on the X platform.

He didn't spill details. In a short video it simply says: “We’re embracing the future with crypto and leaving slow, outdated big banks behind.” Rumors say World Liberty Financial will be a DeFi lending platform where tokens can be lent and borrowed.

There will also be a governance token. It hints at a link with the DeFi protocol Aave. This suggests World Liberty Financial will run on the Ethereum blockchain.

Even before World Liberty Financial was published, concerns about its security were already on the table. The whitepaper shows similarities to the blockchain protocol Dough Finance — which was recently hacked.

Even though the project is led by Donald Trump's sons, for the presidential candidate it's another PR stunt that puts him on the 'crypto president' path. He's been in close touch with the crypto industry for weeks. He made big promises at this year's Bitcoin conference in Nashville — but just like with 'World Liberty Financial', details were scarce.
