Edward Snowden is excited about Nostr, the crypto-friendly Twitter alternative. "I've been involved with Bitcoin since before 2013, and I have to say I've never felt Bitcoin as powerful as it feels on Nostr. The immediate, effectively free transactions that come from so many people having Lightning addresses are like arriving on a different planet," Snowden explained in a tweet.

Users access the network through various clients and can create an account linked to a Lightning address. That way, network participants can easily send sats back and forth.

Nostr is a protocol designed to share data and is considered highly censorship-resistant. A variety of applications are built on the protocol, which can serve as Twitter- or Telegram-like alternatives.
