Ethereum beats Bitcoin in 2025
The crypto bull run is gaining steam.

The crypto bull run is gaining steam. While Bitcoin (BTC) trades at $119,617 and is only 2.8 percent away from its all-time high of $122,838 reached on July 14 this year, Ethereum (ETH) continues to notch new yearly highs almost daily. At time of writing, Ether is at $4,652, up more than 30 percent in just one week. That makes one thing clear: Ethereum is currently leaving Bitcoin in the dust.
Year over year, Ethereum is more than ten percentage points better than the largest crypto. But can we call this a true Altcoin Season? Not quite yet, says the analysis AI Alva: “Based on current data BTC dominance remains high, so we don't see a clear pullback that usually signals the start of a full Altcoin Season.”
Bitcoin dominance is currently at 58 percent. A key driver behind the recent rallies is institutional investors. A new report from Bitcointreasuries.net shows they now hold 3.64 million BTC, equal to 17.33 percent of the maximum possible supply.
