Ethereum staking via Lido Finance is now available on the significantly faster Layer-2 blockchains Arbitrum and Optimism.
The largest Ethereum staking provider, Lido Finance, now lets users stake their ETH through the Layer-2 networks Arbitrum and Optimism. Lido announced it in a View post on X. Arbitrum and Optimism use optimistic rollup technology and offer much higher transaction speeds and lower costs, while benefiting from Ethereum's security.
Users can now stake ETH in the same process and, in return, use the received staked ETH (stETH) tokens for DeFi apps on the faster networks. The stETH token is transferred to the respective networks via so-called token wrapping.
Users can expect rewards totaling 150,000 LDO per month for successfully bridging the tokens.
Lido (LDO) is currently the largest staking provider for Ethereum. Nearly 40 percent of the total staked ETH tokens are in the platform's ledger. Even before the merge there were warnings about looming centralization. Meanwhile, Arbitrum and Optimism are growing in popularity. In particular, Arbitrum saw strong growth last year.
