Ethereum developers have announced a possible date when investors will regain access to their stashed ETH.
Since the transition of the consensus mechanism in September, investors can stake ETH on the Ethereum blockchain. The ETH are deposited as liquidity to validate new blocks. This can generate a yield. However, the staked coins are then locked on the blockchain. So far, validators could not withdraw their locked ETH.
4844 upgrade coming in the summer
On Thursday, December 8, Ethereum developers announced the provisional date for the Shanghai upgrade. With the March 2023 upgrade, investors should again gain access to their stashed coins. In the summer of 2023, the (EIP) 4844 upgrade will also be implemented, with the Ethereum Foundation aiming to reduce transaction costs.
