First Staking Summit kicks off in Lisbon

On November 8, Staking Rewards, one of the biggest data providers in the DeFi space, for the first time will host an in-person conference in Lisbon. The organizer expects about 500 attendees. Top speakers from Ethereum, Polkadot, and Cosmos will discuss the latest developments in the nearly $300 billion staking sector of decentralized finance.

Of course, the recently completed Ethereum Merge is at the top of the agenda. According to Staking Rewards CEO Mirko Schmiedl, Bitcoin mining is "dead," he calls Proof of Stake the new "king."

"For an industry with such a large financial volume there is surprisingly little discussion and collaboration between different protocols. We need to change that." Schmiedl says.

Beyond the merge, the focus is also on institutional adoption and proven methods for validators and governance. Mirko Schmiedl sums it up: "It's about answers to the question: Where do we go from here?"
