The ultimatum has expired, and so Cameron Winklevoss is speaking out. The Gemini co-founder is calling for the resignation of DCG CEO Barry Silbert.
Cameron Winklevoss, co-founder of the crypto exchange Gemini, addressed the Digital Currency Group (DCG) in View post on X where he calls for the resignation of current CEO Barry Silbert. He also revealed alleged lies by both DCG and Genesis. Specifically, it states: "In early July 2022, Barry, DCG and Genesis launched a carefully staged misinformation campaign to make Gemini Earn users and other investors believe that DCG had invested US$1.2 billion in real backing in Genesis."
Winklevoss accuses the group of accounting fraud
Winklevoss also accused the group of accounting fraud, saying the reason was Genesis's involvement in the collapse of 3AC. In closing, Winklevoss is clear: "There is no way forward as long as Barry Silbert leads DCG." Silbert has proven that he "isn’t willing to find a solution with creditors," according to the statement. The Gemini founder said he trusted that with "the new management" a positive solution would be worked toward. A few days ago, Winklevoss issued an ultimatum: within a week there must be a resolution for the $900 million in Gemini customer funds frozen at Genesis. Customers are still waiting for their money.
Meanwhile, the Winklevoss twins have been facing a lawsuit and fraud allegations from their own customers for some time linked to legal action.
