Did STEPN, the Move-to-Earn project, lay off 100 workers?

In light of the recently dropping user numbers, the Move-to-Earn app may have laid off up to 100 employees. The STEPN team denies this.

STEPN denies the allegations

The crypto fitness app STEPN has allegedly laid off up to 100 workers. Community moderators and promoters of the app would be affected. In a statement, a STEPN spokesperson has since denied the allegations. They say they only bid farewell to "volunteers" and "recently inactive" moderators.

Declining user numbers due to bear market

On STEPN you can earn cryptocurrencies by moving your feet under the Move-to-Earn concept. According to the developers, the app had up to 800,000 daily users in May. As user numbers declined during the bear market, the project has lately seemed to fade from memory. Additionally, STEPN has often faced criticism for its questionable monetization model. The reason could also be Solana, which has been dealing with a slew of outages on its own blockchain.
