Intel Ends Chip Production for Bitcoin Miners

Chipmaker Intel is pulling out of the crypto industry and halting production of Bitcoin-mining devices.

Intel is stopping production of chips for Bitcoin-mining hardware. The company announced it in an information document (Product Change Notification). New orders for mining devices will be accepted only until October 20. The delivery window ends on April 20, 2024.

Specifically affected is the Blockscale device line. Intel only ventured into crypto mining with Blockscale last year.

Reuters says a company spokesman said it had halted development of the Blockscale 1000-series ASICs. Blockscale customers will, however, continue to receive support.

Among the customers were mining companies Argo Blockchain, Block Inc, Hive Blockchain Technologies and GRIID Infrastructure.
