Kenya has banned all activities surrounding the controversial crypto project Worldcoin. According to the Department of Homeland Security authorities are now examining the risks to consumer protection first.

According to the official statement, "relevant security, financial services and data protection authorities have launched investigations and surveys to determine the authenticity and legality of the said activities."

"Appropriate action will be taken against any person or entity that promotes, aids, encourages or otherwise participates in or is associated with the activities described above," it adds.

Worldcoin has been criticized for mass data collection using iris scans. German authorities are also investigating the risks of data protection.
