Video game giant EA SPORTS and Nike Virtual Studios announced a partnership on June 1. In the coming months, Nike’s "virtual .SWOOSH creations" will be integrated into the game developer’s worlds. A big step for the NFT industry.

Nike’s new partnership with EA SPORTS is aimed at creating "new experiences" and opening "new levels within the EA SPORTS ecosystem", aldus the press release. EA SPORTS and Nike plan to make a number of virtual .SWOOSH creations available in future EA SPORTS titles, allowing players to "unique new opportunities for self-expression" get, the statement said.

All buzzwords aside, it is not yet known in which games the NFTs will be integrated. It stands to reason that NFTs are customizable add-ons that players can purchase to visually alter their character in the game. An example is the soccer shoes in EA’s new soccer game.

Nike first unveiled its .swoosh NFT platform in November 2022. On May 15, the platform released its first NFT collection. A line of virtual shoes called Our Force 1. The integration of NFT’s in EA SPORTS’s game economy is a big step toward mainstream adoption.
