Mastercard enables crypto payments at 90 million stores
Mastercard has entered a new partnership to expand its crypto offerings.

Mastercard has entered a new partnership to expand its crypto offerings. This was announced yesterday by Michael Miebach, Mastercard's CEO, in a LinkedIn post. They are partnering with Binance to allow more than 90 million transactions to be paid with digital currencies. The service is initially limited to Argentina, but expansion plans were announced in a further post in the coming weeks.
Using the so-called Binance Card, exchange customers should be able to make crypto payments, including Bitcoin and BNB. This service is available both in stores and online. Customers can also withdraw cash for free and earn up to 8% cashback on purchases.
"We can unlock the full potential of blockchain technology by making it more accessible and easier to use," Miebach said in his post. The payment processor has previously made headlines about partnerships in the crypto space. For example, Mastercard works with Amber Group, Bitkub, and CoinJar to enable cryptocurrency payments in Asia.
