Metamask integrates Solana and Bitcoin

Metamask is taking a big step toward an all-in-one crypto wallet with new integrations. The company announced that support for Solana is scheduled for May. "All MetaMask users will be able to buy, sell, swap and interact with DApps within the Solana ecosystem," the company reported in a blog post.

Interestingly, Solana is the first blockchain to be linked to MetaMask without using the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM).

In addition, Bitcoin integration is also planned for the third quarter. "Users will then no longer need a separate wallet or Wrapped Tokens to store Bitcoin," MetaMask said.

In the long term, the company also aims to eliminate gas fees entirely.

MetaMask is among the most popular crypto wallets in the world, with more than 100 million users now. The wallet supports a wide range of crypto-assets, including Ethereum, Uniswap, Polygon, Chainlink and Tether.
