Metaplanet now owns more than 1,000 BTC

Japanese technology company Metaplanet, also known as the "Japanese MicroStrategy," has once again invested in Bitcoin.

With the recent purchase of 156.78 BTC, for about 1.6 billion yen (over ten million dollars converted), the company has broken through the 1,000 BTC barrier. In total, Metaplanet now owns 1,018.17 BTC, worth about $69 million.

The purchases were financed through capital markets and income from operations. CEO Simon Gerovich now considers Metaplanet one of Asia's largest Bitcoin-owned companies. Since the company decided in May to use Bitcoin as a strategic reserve, it has continued to actively buy. Its latest buying spree was on Oct. 16. Metaplanet's shares rose more than seven percent Monday and have appreciated six times since the beginning of the year.
