A new milestone: 15 years after the first block, the billionth transaction has been processed through Bitcoin.

On Sunday at block No. 842,240, the billionth Bitcoin-transaction was carried out.

It took about 15 years to reach this milestone. The Bitcoin blockchain went live on Jan. 3, 2009. Since then, an average of 178,475 transactions have flowed through the network daily.

In addition, hundreds of millions of transactions have been processed through the Lightning payment solution.

Recently, the number of transfers around the Halving increased significantly. There was also a record of more than one million transactions processed in a single day.

Launched during the Halving Runes protocol also contributed to this.
