Chidi Nwaubani, a young artist from Nigeria, is returning stolen art to Africa via the blockchain. How? In the form of NFTs!

Elegant copper figures, beautiful idols on altars, large ancient bronze heads, and carved ivory tusks once adorned the heart of Benin City, Nigeria. The Benin figures are regarded as Africa's cultural heritage.

But during the colonial era Europeans stole more than 90 percent of Africa's most important artworks. To this day, much of the stolen goods remain in Western museums, archives, and many private collections.

Chidi Nwaubani, a young multidisciplinary artist from Nigeria, wants to bring Africa's stolen art back. With his project named Looty, he searches for stolen artifacts and converts them into NFTs.
