The memecoin platform Pump.fun has launched its own decentralized exchange (DEX). According to a View post on X, crypto assets are now migrating directly to "PumpSwap".
With this move, the popular launchpad positions itself as a direct competitor to Raydium, currently the largest decentralized exchange on the Solana network.
According to Pump.fun, PumpSwap works "similar to Raydium V4 and Uniswap V2" and is designed to offer "the smoothest trading environment for coins."
"Migrations have always been a major source of frustration – they slow a coin's momentum and make it unnecessarily complicated for new users," says Pump.fun. On PumpSwap, migrations would, however, be "direct and at no cost."
The launch comes just a few days after Raydium itself announced a memecoin launchpad: LaunchLab. The battle between these two heavyweights within the Solana ecosystem appears to be heating up further.
Still, the question remains how much there is left to gain: the memecoin market currently looks oversaturated. Both trading volume and the number of new token launches have been falling for weeks. The downturn was sparked by the Libra crypto scandal, in which Argentine President Javier Milei also got involved.
