Quant, Bitway and XDC Rise as Bitcoin and Ethereum Fall

Key Takeaways

  • Bitcoin and Ethereum fell about 2% on Monday, while Quant, Bitway, and XDC Network were among the strongest gainers.
  • Quant rose 32.85% after bank news around tokenized deposits at The Clearing House and live tokenized sterling payments with major UK banks.
  • Bitway hit an all-time high and XDC gained 11.66%, supported by a rewards campaign, validator expansions, and attention around Sibos in Miami.

The crypto market cooled off on Monday, September 28, but three altcoins moved sharply higher. Bitcoin and Ethereum both fell about 2%, while Quant, Bitway, and XDC Network topped CoinGecko's 24-hour gainers list.

Quant Benefits From Bank News

Quant was the day's biggest gainer, climbing 32.85% to $238.2 (€209). That pushed its weekly gain to 260%.

The rally already started on September 24, when The Clearing House picked Quant for its U.S. network for tokenized deposits. That network is set to launch in the first half of 2027. The Clearing House works for major U.S. banks and processes more than $2 trillion (€1.8 trillion) every day through wire, ACH, check image, and real-time payments networks.

The project also got extra attention in the UK. Barclays, HSBC UK, and NatWest completed live tokenized sterling payments on Quant's platform that same day. Earlier bank deals had already sparked a similar price jump. Even after the strong move, QNT was still about 47% below its September 2021 record.

Bitway Sets a New Record

Bitway, a Bitcoin-focused layer-1, rose 28.3% to $1.38 (€1.21) and earlier in the day hit an all-time high of $1.43 (€1.26). That brought its market cap to $3.7 billion (€3.3 billion).

No new listing or protocol update came out on Monday that directly explained the jump. Still, Bitway Booster Earn Season 5 runs until October 2 through Binance Wallet DeFi. In that campaign, users can earn BTW Boosted APR rewards by depositing at least 100 U into the Bitway U vault.

The move also fits into a broader rotation into altcoins. Blockchain Center's Altcoin Season Index was at 59 on Monday, still neutral, but clearly above the levels below 25 that were seen in July.

XDC Gets Extra Attention

XDC Network rose 11.66% in 24 hours to $0.034 (€0.030) and gained about 20% over the past week. The price got support from the opening of Sibos in Miami, the SWIFT conference running through October 1. Teams from XDC Network and Contour, a trade finance network on XDC, are there.

Recent validator expansions are also part of the story. South Korean custody firm DSRV joined as a masternode validator on September 18, while Belgian tokenization company SettleMint got that role back in June. In July, XDC also launched XDC AI, a marketplace where AI agents pay for services in USDC.

For European crypto readers, the main point is that these gainers were not driven by one broad market move. Quant is leaning on banking infrastructure, XDC on a large payments and trade network, and Bitway on an ongoing rewards campaign. That makes the moves interesting, but also vulnerable if those specific catalysts fade or end.
