Semler Scientific sets ambitious Bitcoin goal

And that's exactly why the American dental technology company Semler Scientific wants to massively expand its Bitcoin reserves.

According to an official press release from the Nasdaq-listed company, the goal is to own a total of 105,000 BTC by 2027, equal to about 0.5% of the total Bitcoin supply.

The path to get there is ambitious and tightly mapped out. Semler Scientific aims to more than double its current position of 4,449 BTC to 10,000 BTC this year. In 2026 that number should rise to 42,000 BTC, eventually reaching 105,000 BTC by 2027.

The man tasked with delivering this Bitcoin push is Joe Burnett, the new Director of Bitcoin Strategy. CEO Eric Semler is clearly enthusiastic: “Joe is an analytically strong leader.” Burnett has previously made a name for himself in the Bitcoin space and is a vocal proponent of a BTC-first corporate strategy.

With this plan, Semler follows in the footsteps of Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy), which now holds more than 600,000 Bitcoin in its reserves, by far the largest corporate BTC holding in the world.

Critics warn of the risks of this copycat behavior. Not every company has Strategy's cash flow, market position, or risk tolerance. What if the price crashes? Or regulations change? Copying blindly can lead to a crash too.
