Solana Labs has integrated its payment functionality on Shopify via a plugin to enable crypto payments. This reports TechCrunch based on insider information.

According to Josh Fried, business development and partnerships at the Solana Foundation, they made a conscious decision to incorporate USDC. For merchants and consumers, stablecoin is an "attractive option" because it is pegged to the U.S. dollar.

In the future, however, they also want to integrate the SOL token or BONK, a memecoin. Compared to credit card processing fees, which can be as high as 3.5 percent per transaction, Solana Pay is virtually "fee-free."
