Solana overtakes Ripple for first time and climbs to top 5

Solana makes history. On Dec. 20, the "high-speed blockchain" for the first time reached Ripple in and displaced it from the top 5 most valuable cryptocurrencies.

Shortly thereafter, the tide turned again and Ripple caught up with Solana. At the time of writing, however, Solana is back in the lead with a market capitalization of USD 36.89 billion. Ripple is right behind it with USD 33.29 billion.

Solana also beat Ethereum for the first time in several statistics, including transactions, NFT trading volume and on decentralized exchanges. Solana is considered one of the big winners of 2023 and made a brilliant comeback. Many analysts predict explosive growth for 2024.
