Strategy buys another $180 million worth of Bitcoin
Michael Saylor strikes again.

Michael Saylor strikes again. His company Strategy bought nearly 2,000 Bitcoin last week, a $180 million investment. The purchase price was around $95,000 per coin.
That brings the total to 555,450 Bitcoin owned by Strategy, an astonishing amount that amounts to about 3 percent of all Bitcoin in circulation. The average purchase price now stands at $68,550 per coin. By way of comparison: the week before, the company spent $1.4 billion on additional Bitcoin. In total Strategy now manages a BTC reserve worth about $52 billion.
The Strategy share traded today, May 5, 2025, at $394, up about 4 percent from yesterday. The stock reaction follows the confidence in the ambitious “21/21 plan” that the company launched in March. This plan envisions raising $42 billion in capital within three years, entirely earmarked for further Bitcoin purchases.
Yet the strategy is not without risks. In April 2025, the Bitcoin price fell 30 percent, triggering a temporary buy stop at Strategy. Rumors of possible liquidations circulated at the time; it remains a high-stakes game.
For 2025 Strategy reports a so-called “BTC yield” of 13.7 percent. This figure reflects the ratio between the amount of Bitcoin the company holds and the number of outstanding MSTR shares. In other words: every shareholder now indirectly holds 13.7 percent more Bitcoin than before.
