Strive and Strategy Buy 1,490 Bitcoin During Recovery

Strive increased its BTC holdings to 36,818, while Strategy bought 267 Bitcoin. The timing follows the move back above $82,000 and mixed inflows into U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs.

Strive and Strategy Buy 1,490 Bitcoin During Recovery

Key Takeaways

  • Strive and Strategy bought 1,490 Bitcoin together on Monday as BTC recovered above $82,000.
  • Strive increased its position by 1,223 BTC to 36,818 Bitcoin, while Strategy bought 267 BTC and reached 848,517 BTC.
  • The purchases come in a shaky market, while U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs saw about $228 million in net outflows last week.

Strive and Strategy bought a combined 1,490 Bitcoin on Monday, while BTC recovered from last week’s brief dip below $80,000 (€71,100). The purchases show that big Bitcoin treasuries are still buying in a shaky market, even though broader institutional demand is still not fully clear.

Strive Expands Bitcoin Position

Strive bought another 1,223 BTC, bringing its total to 36,818 Bitcoin, CEO Matt Cole said. The company did not disclose the purchase price. At a market price of about $82,500 (€73,300) earlier on Monday, the new coins were worth around $101 million (€89.8 million) in total.

The purchase comes during a period when Bitcoin is once again trying to find support after last week’s sharp drop. On October 15, the price briefly fell below $80,000 (€71,100) after stronger-than-expected U.S. inflation data fueled fears of new interest rate hikes by the Federal Reserve.

Strategy Keeps Buying

Michael Saylor’s Strategy bought 267 BTC between October 12 and 18 for $22.1 million (€19.6 million), at an average price of $82,900 (€73,700) per Bitcoin. That lifted the company’s total holdings to 848,517 BTC. Strategy funded most of that purchase with about $22 million (€19.6 million) from selling MSTR shares.

The company also bought back 1.94 million STRC preferred shares for $193.1 million (€172 million). In addition, the buyback capacity for digital credit securities was expanded to $3 billion (€2.7 billion), with about $1.16 billion (€1 billion) still available.

What This Means for Investors

The purchases come alongside Bitcoin’s recovery above $82,000 (€72,900), while oil prices and U.S. Treasury yields fell. That briefly eased pressure on risk assets. At the same time, institutional inflows remain uneven. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs saw about $228 million (€203 million) in net outflows last week, after a month in which those funds had been pulling in strong money.

For European crypto followers, the key point is that large public companies and ETFs often play a role in Bitcoin sentiment at the same time. When those flows move in different directions, as they are now, it says more about a fragile market than about any single price move.
