These companies are investing the most in blockchain

A new study shows: since September 2021, 40 of the 100 largest publicly traded companies have invested in blockchain and crypto startups.

From a study by Blockdata, it appears that nearly half of the world's 100 biggest publicly traded companies have invested in the blockchain sector. The data covers the period from September 2021 to mid-June 2022.

How much the companies invested remains unknown to some extent. "In most cases, we can’t determine how much money these companies invested because they participate in funding rounds with many other investors," Blockdata writes.

To still get a sense of it, they analyzed the total funding amounts of the fundraising rounds instead. The result: Google’s parent company Alphabet took part in a total of four rounds that raised more than $1.5 billion. The money went to Fireblocks, Dapper Labs, Voltage, and the Digital Currency Group.

Second place goes to BlackRock. The largest asset manager participated in three rounds totaling more than $1.1 billion for FTX, Circle, and Anchorage Digital.

Although Samsung ranks fourth in volume, it tops in investment activity. The electronics maker invested in 13 different companies, according to the report.
