This company plans to invest $1.5 billion in Bitcoin

The wave of institutional interest in Bitcoin seems to be accelerating. Right after GameStop announced an investment of over half a billion dollars in Bitcoin, the Hong Kong-based Reitar Logtech Holdings Ltd also joins the front.

In an official filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Reitar says it is considering investing up to $1.5 billion in Bitcoin. According to the company, the goal of this strategic move is twofold: “We want to strengthen the company’s financial position while maintaining our global focus on logistics technology,” per the SEC document.

CEO John Chan notes that this potential step offers more strategic flexibility: “It enables us to pursue targeted acquisitions and expand into new markets.”

Negotiations are reportedly already well advanced. “The deal terms could be finalized soon,” the statement added.

If the investment goes through, Reitar Logtech Holdings would own around 15,000 Bitcoin in one swoop, making it one of the world’s largest institutional holders. Only four companies currently hold more BTC in their treasuries.

The undisputed leader remains, of course, Strategy by Michael Saylor, which recently expanded its position with 705 more Bitcoin worth $75 million. The total for Strategy stands at a staggering 580,955 BTC.
