Trend Break: Bitcoin Whales Buy 43,100 BTC for $4 Billion

After weeks of price weakness fueled by the turmoil around Trump's trade policy, market sentiment in crypto appears to be turning. In February, even large Bitcoin whales were unloading their holdings en masse, with about 6,800 BTC dumped in one week. But now the trend seems to be reversing.

According to View post on X by crypto analyst Ali Martinez, the whales have piled in an astonishing 43,100 BTC over the past two weeks, worth an estimated $4 billion. At the time of writing, Bitcoin trades at $96,200, up 1.1% from yesterday. This price level last hit was in late February.

A large portion of these massive purchases appears to be driven by Michael Saylor's company Strategy, which has been aggressively accumulating BTC for some time. Metaplanet and Semler Scientific have also expanded their Bitcoin reserves recently.

Whereas the market once considered a 'whale' only with at least 1,000 BTC, the bar has now lowered: with the price up, 100 BTC is enough for the label in common parlance.

From data from the on-chain analytics tool Bitcoin HODL Waves, more than 64% of all existing Bitcoin has not moved in at least a year. A clear sign of confidence among long-term investors.

Curiously, online interest is fading: since Donald Trump’s election victory, searches for “Bitcoin” have fallen sharply—from a peak of 100 in mid-November to just 30 this week.

In the coming months, Bitcoin's price will likely depend mainly on the broader macroeconomic context.
