The trial of the former U.S. president Donald Trump is making waves. Sales of his NFT collection have jumped.

The criminal case against Donald Trump sent sales of his NFT collection into overdrive. The former president appeared on Tuesday, April 4, in a New York court. After going through ID procedures, Trump was read the charges.

In 34 cases, prosecutors say Trump falsified business records. He has entered a not guilty plea. On the trading platform OpenSea, a total of 30 of his NFTs changed hands in the hour after his court appearance. In the next six hours, another 47 followed.

In December 2022, the former president launched his own NFT collection. The collection includes 45,000 images featuring Trump himself in various outfits. Additionally, owners of certain NFTs can win various prizes, such as a dinner or a round of golf with the ex-president.

At launch, each NFT was valued at $99. On OpenSea, the NFTs are currently trading at a floor price of 0.46 ETH. At the time of writing, that equals about $880.
