Trump Media's Bitcoin Holdings Shrink After $361 Million Loss

Trump Media held 9,477 BTC at the end of June, some of it pledged, while the value of its Cronos position plunged. The scrapped CRO strategy with Crypto.com and Yorkville is putting more pressure on its crypto ambitions.

Trump Media's Bitcoin Holdings Shrink After $361 Million Loss

Key Takeaways

  • Trump Media reported 9,477.16 Bitcoin as of June 30, with a fair value of $557.1 million, slightly below the end of March level.
  • The Bitcoin position fell by 65 BTC during the quarter, and a large portion was pledged or locked up as collateral.
  • The Cronos position stayed the same in tokens, but its fair value dropped to $40.6 million.

Trump Media and Technology Group said its Bitcoin position got smaller in the second quarter, even as falling crypto prices pushed first-half losses to $360.6 million (€312 million) for the Truth Social parent. By June 30, the company held 9,477.16 Bitcoin valued at $557.1 million (€482 million), a bit lower than it was at the end of March. Its Cronos holdings, meanwhile, were unchanged in token terms but took a much bigger hit in value.

Bitcoin Position Shrinks

In its quarterly filing on Monday, Trump Media said its Bitcoin stash declined from 9,542.16 BTC at the end of March to 9,477.16 BTC at the end of June, a quarterly drop of 65 BTC. The company is mostly owned by the Donald J. Trump Revocable Trust, in which President Donald Trump has a significant stake and which is controlled by Donald Trump Jr.

Not all of that Bitcoin was freely usable. As of June 30, 4,260.73 BTC had been pledged against convertible notes, while another 2,077.34 BTC was posted as collateral for the company’s bitcoin options strategy. That means a large share of the position is tied up in financing deals, leaving less room on the balance sheet.

Cronos Loses Value

Trump Media also disclosed a sizable Cronos position, the token linked to Crypto.com. The company held about 756.1 million tokens, but their fair value fell to $40.6 million (€35.1 million) from $68 million (€58.8 million) at the end of 2025. The move is a reminder of how fast altcoins can swing, even when the token count does not change.

The update came soon after Trump Media pulled back from part of its crypto push. Last week, Trump Media, Crypto.com, and Yorkville Acquisition said they were walking away from their planned merger for Trump Media Group CRO Strategy. The proposed vehicle was meant to go public and build a large CRO treasury, but the companies cited current market conditions and changing business priorities.

Why This Matters

For European crypto readers, the filing is a good example of how quickly a company’s balance sheet can move with the market, especially when it holds both Bitcoin and a large altcoin position. It also shows that treasury plans built around tokens like Cronos still depend heavily on market conditions and on whether deals with crypto exchanges and other partners actually close. In that sense, Trump Media is a clear case of how crypto, corporate finance, and politics in the United States are increasingly overlapping.
