Texas Senator Ted Cruz wants to introduce snack vending machines on Capitol Hill that also accept cryptocurrencies as payment.
If his proposal is approved on Wednesday, the Architect of the Capitol, the Secretary of the Senate, and the Clerk of the House of Representatives would be required to only sign contracts with catering firms and operators whose machines also accept cryptocurrencies.
Cruz is regarded as one of the strongest Bitcoin proponents in the U.S. Senate. Many mining companies are based in the state of Texas. The senator believes the Lone Star State will become a "haven on Earth for Bitcoin and crypto." He also calls for Congress members to be better educated about cryptocurrencies.
