World Economic Forum recognizes benefits of Bitcoin mining

The World Economic Forum isn't the biggest fan of Bitcoin. Yet the controversial global optimizers are coming out with a positive statement about Bitcoin mining.

Bitcoin mining generally has a bad reputation with the public. Some studies give the premier crypto a "very poor" eco-certification. Other reports now see Bitcoin's sustainability contributions. Now the World Economic Forum (WEF) also draws attention to the benefits of Bitcoin mining — albeit indirectly. In a recent video the WEF presents the startup Crusoe Energy.

The goal of Crusoe Energy is to capture excess energy from oil and gas production and convert it back to power to run computer systems. This prevents environmentally unfriendly burning of so-called "stranded energy".

The WEF doesn't mention Bitcoin mining directly in the clip and instead talks about "data centers". The clip, however, also shows mining rigs installed on oil fields. Moreover, Crusoe Energy on their site explicitly states they facilitate crypto and blockchain networks in addition to AI systems to lessen environmental impact.
