XRP futures launch on CME

The Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) has today officially kicked off trading in the first XRP futures. Investors can choose from two contract sizes: 2,500 XRP (ticker: MXPK5) and 50,000 XRP (ticker: XRPK5). Both contracts are cash-settled.
At the time of writing, both futures were slightly down, by 1.73% and 1.9% respectively. Still, this launch marks an important milestone for the crypto market and specifically for XRP. Analysts view the introduction of XRP futures on a regulated U.S. exchange like the CME as a strong signal toward potential approval of an XRP spot ETF.
For market watchers like Nate Geraci, it is only a "matter of time" before an XRP spot index fund is launched. With XRP added, the CME now offers futures on four major cryptocurrencies: Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, and XRP.
Meanwhile, Ripple recently faced a setback in its legal battle with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The presiding judge rejected a settlement between the two parties that would have led to a reduction in a previously imposed fine.
