The list of the world's 100 biggest assets has a new entrant: XRP. With a market cap of $180 billion, the cryptocurrency has climbed to rank 97, one spot ahead of Deutsche Telekom. On the way up, the Ripple coin left behind heavyweights like Adobe, Pfizer, Santander, and Spotify. For the next jump to rank 96, currently held by ServiceNow, another roughly $4 billion in market cap is needed.
After Bitcoin and Ethereum, XRP is the third crypto to make this prestigious list. Ethereum sits at a market cap of $576 billion in 22nd place, while Bitcoin at $2.28 trillion is even at 7th place just ahead of silver.
XRP has seen one of the strongest rallies in the crypto market in recent months. Compared to a year ago, the price is up about 400%. Among the drivers was Donald Trump's victory in the US presidential election, which led to friendlier crypto policy in the US. Also the prospect of ending the protracted lawsuit with the US regulator SEC gave the price wings.
Additionally, expectations are growing that the first XRP Spot ETF in the US will soon come to light. More and more signals suggest that not only for Bitcoin and Ethereum, but also for a range of altcoins, approvals are in the air. For XRP, the official decision is expected in October—a potential catalyst for new capital inflows toward the coin.
