0.1 BTC will be worth more than a house

Binance founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) View post on X weighs in on the discussion surrounding the recent price move by the U.S. mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac: they are considering including Bitcoin in their credit assessments. A symbolic move, because Zhao says Bitcoin will ultimately become the ultimate asset.
Since the housing bubble burst in 2007, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac (both backed by the government) have provided liquidity and stability to the U.S. housing market. They buy mortgages, bundle them, and then sell them as securities on the capital markets.
According to Zhao, a new era has begun. “The current American dream is to own a house,” he says. “But the American dream of the future is to own 0.1 BTC. That will be worth more than a house in the U.S.”
A bold statement. At the time of writing, the average home price in the U.S. ranges from $412,500 to $430,000 depending on the region. One Bitcoin currently costs about $107,000, meaning 0.1 BTC is only around $10,700. To buy a house with a tenth of Bitcoin, the price would have to surge by roughly 4,000%. And that doesn’t even count further real estate price inflation. Whether that’s science fiction or a glimpse of what’s to come, only time will tell. One thing’s for sure: the narrative is shifting, and Bitcoin is increasingly at the center of it.
