Ripple co-founder Chris Larsen fell victim to a hacker attack. "Yesterday there was unauthorized access to some of my personal XRP accounts," said Larsen View post on X. Suspected addresses have already been blocked: "We were able to quickly identify the problem and notify the exchanges to freeze the affected addresses."

It is still unclear who is behind the attack. According to Ripple's co-founder, "law enforcement agencies are already involved." A total of 213 million XRP, the equivalent of US$112 million, was stolen. Some of the stolen money could be traced to several exchanges, including MEXC, Gate, Binance, Kraken, OKX, HTX and HitBTC.

The XRP price fell four percent to 49 cents on the day.
