A sigh of relief at Gala Games: much of the funds had already been frozen. Now the attacker has returned $22 million.

After the "theftal" of approximately US$200 million from GALA, the attacker returned US$22.3 million in ETH yesterday, May 21. This is according to data from Etherscan.

As Gala Games explains in a blog post, the reimbursement is due to the "quick, effective response of the team, as well as the involvement of the federal police."

Moreover, the cryptoproject was able to freeze the majority of the mined tokens within 45 minutes using the so-called "blocklist protocol."

The community now wants to vote on the whereabouts of these funds and possibly keep the tokens frozen to maintain the stability of the token ecosystem.

There has already been initial speculation about the background of the hack - rumors say it was an inside job.

According to Gala co-founder Eric Schiermeyer, the suspected attacker has already been identified, including "his home address."

After its sudden sell-off on May 20, GALA is heading north again. In the past 24 hours, the gaming blockchain token is up nearly eight percent.
