A supposed security update for the Solana wallet Phantom turns out to be malware. As bleepingcomputer reports, hackers have been sending NFTs to Solana users for two weeks, stealing sensitive data such as passwords.

Wallet holders are asked to install a new security update

According to the report, wallet holders are prompted to install a new security update when opening the NFTs called "PHANTOMUPDATE.COM" or "UPDATEPHANTOM.COM". "Phantom requires all users to update their wallet. This should be done as soon as possible," reads the fraudulent warning. "If you don't do this, you could lose funds as hackers exploit the Solana network. Visit www.updatePhantom.com for the latest security update." This, however, is malware that steals passwords and browser information.
