Corruption in Washington? Tron founder Justin Sun attends exclusive Trump gala

The controversial Tron founder Justin Sun will attend an exclusive gala dinner with former President Donald Trump on May 22, 2025 at his luxurious Mar-a-Lago residence. Sun confirmed his participation via X (formerly Twitter). The gathering is aimed at the 220 biggest holders of the TRUMP memecoin, a crypto project tied to Trump's name and campaign. The 25 largest investors will even get a VIP tour.

Sun claims to be the largest TRUMP holder, with an estimated value of $19 million in tokens. In addition, he bought as much as $75 million worth of WFLI tokens. These tokens are issued by World Liberty Financial, a crypto platform run by Trump's three sons. This makes Sun not only the largest holder but also an official adviser to the company.

The gathering raises serious ethical questions. Critics argue that Trump is leveraging his political influence to bind crypto investors to him in exchange for support and possibly financial favors. The close ties to token projects like TRUMP would indicate an entanglement of political power and speculative crypto ventures.

Sun's presence makes the picture even more explosive. The Tron founder has been under fire for years from international regulators over alleged market manipulation, investor deception, and opaque corporate structures.

According to observers, the dinner symbolizes the growing politicization of the crypto sector in the U.S. Not technology or fundamental innovation, but networks, memes, and media shows are increasingly determining the success of projects. The renowned Economist recently described the U.S. crypto sector as a “corrupt swamp,” a label that gains more weight with events like this.
